Fix audio import problems and silent playback
Separate loading problems from silent playback by checking files, mute controls and audio output.
- For a file that will not load, test it in another player and compare a known-good recording.
- If the position advances silently, check the passage, mute controls and audio output.
- Renaming an extension does not convert audio. Visualizer settings do not repair the recording.
1. Play the original in another player
Open the same file in a player on your device. If that also fails, check the source or the audio editor that created it. Preserve the original and save any replacement as a separate file.
MP3, WAV and M4A extensions can contain different internal formats. Changing the filename suffix alone does not convert the contents.
2. Compare a short, known-good recording
At the editor entrance, select Choose file. If media is already loaded, open Change media at the top and select Choose file.
Check whether a duration appears after loading the problem file. Then select a short recording that plays successfully in another player and repeat the same playback test.
If only the second recording works, try exporting a fresh copy of the original from its source application. If neither works, check the supported environment and the displayed message. Record which files passed or failed.
The same browser restores settings such as the visualizer, format and resolution. After reloading, select the audio, custom background image and clip range again.
3. The position advances but there is no sound
A moving visualizer does not prove that the device’s speakers are audible. Press Play below the preview. If the position and time advance, check Sonoray first:
- Move to a passage known to contain sound. In Clip range, check that the start and end points do not select only silence.
- Check the speaker control below the preview and turn off Mute if it is enabled.
Then check the browser and device:
- Make sure the site or browser tab is not muted.
- Check device volume and output. Sound may be going to connected headphones or another output you did not intend to use.
If sound plays but the visualizer is too small, check Response in Adjust → Motion instead.
4. Playback works but MP4 export fails
Continue with export and saving troubleshooting.
If loading or playback still fails, contact Sonoray with your browser, whether another recording has the same problem, and the displayed message.
