Turn audio or video into an MP4 with an audio-reactive visualizer. Use it to add motion to music, podcasts or existing videos.

Can I use Sonoray for free without signing up?

Free requires no account and has no ads or Sonoray watermark. Export MP4 videos up to 10 minutes at 1080p.

Which browser should I use?

Use the latest desktop Chrome or Edge for export. Sonoray checks device capabilities before exporting, so also check the availability message in the Editor.

Can I use a phone or Safari?

Browsing and editing may work, but export depends on the device and browser capabilities. If export is unavailable, try the latest desktop Chrome or Edge.

Can I try it without an audio file?

Yes. Choose a track from “Try a sample” in the Editor to start experimenting. You can load your own media afterwards.

Media & editing

Which file formats can I open?

Supported inputs are MP3, WAV and M4A audio, and MP4 and MOV video. Files with the same extension can use different codecs, so playability is checked when loading.

Can I make a video from audio alone?

Yes. Combine audio with a background template or your own image and a visualizer. You do not need to prepare an image first.

Can I add a visualizer to an existing video?

Yes. Load a video to use its picture as the background and add a visualizer that reacts to its audio. Adjust the position and size to keep faces and captions clear.

Can the visualizer react only to background music?

With speech and music mixed together, the visualizer responds to the combined audio. To use only the music, create visuals from a separate music track and composite them in a video editor if needed.

Can I make vertical, square or custom aspect ratios?

Yes. Choose 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or a custom ratio. Aspect ratio sets the shape; export resolution sets the pixel dimensions, so check both.

Will my media and settings be there next time?

Audio, video and background images are not restored after a reload, so keep your source files. Pro presets can save visualizer settings, but do not store the media itself.

Export & saving

What export formats and resolutions are available?

Exports are MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. Free supports up to 1080p and Pro up to 4K; choose a setting supported by your device.

Can I export only part of a video or audio track?

Yes. Set the start and end in the Range tab. Make sure the selected clip fits your plan's export duration limit.

Where is my exported MP4 saved?

It is saved to your browser's download location. Check the browser's download history or your device's Downloads folder if you cannot find it.

Can I do other work while exporting?

Keep the Sonoray tab open and your computer awake. Other demanding apps or browser power-saving behavior may slow the export, so check that it finishes and downloads.

Can I queue several videos for export?

Pro lets you edit and queue the next video while an export runs, then exports the queue in order. Allow multiple downloads for Sonoray if your browser asks.

Can I export a transparent video or GIF?

The current output is MP4; transparent video and direct GIF export are not supported. Use a suitable editor or converter if you need another format.

Plans & account

What is the difference between Free and Pro?

Pro adds exports up to 180 minutes at 4K, premium visualizers, advanced controls, saved presets and sequential exports. Check Plans for pricing and availability.

Does Pro export faster?

Both plans use the same export engine; Pro does not guarantee faster exports. It adds creative options, longer and higher-resolution videos, and a multi-video workflow.

Troubleshooting

What if my file will not open?

First check whether an Editor sample works. If only the sample works, re-export your source as MP3, WAV, M4A or an H.264 MP4 and try again.

Link to this answer

Why is the visualizer not moving?

Play the preview at a point with audio. If another visualizer or a sample also stays still, contact us with your browser and what you see.

Link to this answer

How can I make the visualizer less intense?

Lower Response and increase Smoothing in the adjustment controls, then compare the motion. Pro controls such as frequency focus are only available with the corresponding plan.

Why does my vertical video have large empty areas?

Empty areas can appear when the source and output aspect ratios differ. Use media that matches the chosen ratio, or select an output ratio closer to your source.

Why is there no sound in the preview or exported video?

Check that the source contains audio and that the device, browser and player are not muted. If only the MP4 is silent, try another player and contact us with the settings and symptoms if it persists.

What if export is slow or fails partway through?

Check the error and available storage, close demanding apps, then try a short clip at 720p. If a sample also fails, contact us with your browser and the error shown.

What should I include in a bug report?

Include your browser and device, the steps, any error, and whether the problem affects the preview or MP4. You can report it without sending source media or personal details.

Rights & privacy

Are my audio, video or images uploaded?

Media loading, analysis, rendering and MP4 creation happen in your browser. Source media, filenames, backgrounds, rendered frames and finished MP4s are not sent to a processing server.

Does Sonoray collect usage data?

Sonoray records anonymous daily usage and export aggregates to improve the service. This does not automatically send your media or browser-local diagnostics; see the Privacy Policy for details.

Can I publish my video on YouTube or social media?

Check the rights to the music, images and footage, and the destination platform's rules. Creating a video with Sonoray does not grant permission to use someone else's media.

Do Pro presets store my media?

No. Presets save visualizer settings, not audio, video or background images. Load your media again when using another device.
