How to Make a Podcast Audiogram for X
Use your episode audio and show artwork to introduce the full episode.
- Make a short audiogram from episode audio and one image to lead listeners to the full podcast.
- Choose a question and answer that make sense even to someone hearing the show for the first time.
- Put the episode's topic, not just the show name, in the image.
What is an audiogram?
An audiogram is a podcast preview video that combines audio, show artwork and a waveform. You can make one from an audio recording and a single image, even if you did not film the conversation.
A waveform video works when you want people to hear the voices and the pace of the conversation. If they need to read the words as well, choose a tool with subtitle editing, such as VEED. Its free exports have a watermark (as of September 2026).
If you want the image and voices to lead, Sonoray can make an MP4 without a sign-in or watermark.
Choose a minute with a question and answer
Pick a passage that includes a question and a specific answer to it. Laughter alone or a run of in-jokes gives a new listener little context.
For an anecdote about a first live show, start where the question is clear and end after the listener understands what went wrong.
Do not cut a sentence in half just to reach exactly one minute. It is fine to stop where the listener wants to hear more. The post text can lead them to the rest.
After selecting the passage, listen to it on its own. If words such as “that” or “he” depend on something said earlier, start a little sooner or use the image heading to supply the context.
Use an image heading to explain the topic before sound starts
Put a short heading about this episode's topic in the image. It tells people what they are seeing even before they turn on the sound.
“First-live-show mistakes” gives a new viewer more to go on than “Episode 24.”
Combine the show artwork and heading into one image in an image editor. Leave open space for the waveform.
- If the show artwork is square, try a 1:1 video first
- If the image was composed for a wide format, keep that layout in 16:9
- Make the heading large enough to read when the video is small on a phone
Combine the audio and image, then save
- In the Editor, load the audio and background image, then choose a format that fits the image
- Under Range, set the start and end of the minute you want to share
- Choose Bars or Line and place it clear of the heading
- Save an MP4 from Export
Play the saved video to make sure the first and last words have not been cut off.

Put a link to the episode in the post
In your X post, mention the topic in the video and link to the full episode.
Preparing for my first live show was more nerve-racking than the performance. Here is one minute of that story from this week's episode.
Full episode: [episode URL]
Link directly to the episode rather than the show's home page. Then anyone who wants to hear more can open it without searching through the episode list.
Add a waveform to the minute you want to share
No sign-in needed. Use your episode audio and one image.
